What is the H-2B Visa Program?

The H-2B Temporary Non-Agricultural Worker Program allows U.S. employers to hire foreign workers for temporary or seasonal non-agricultural jobs when qualified U.S. workers are not available. This includes industries such as:

  • Hospitality & Tourism (hotels, resorts, theme parks)

  • Landscaping

  • Construction

  • Seafood Processing

  • Amusement & Recreation

  • Maintenance and Janitorial Services

Key Program Highlights:

  • Temporary Work Authorization: Workers may be employed in the U.S. for up to 9 months, with possible extensions up to a maximum of 3 years.

  • Employer-Sponsored: Only U.S. employers (not individuals) can sponsor H-2B workers.

  • Two Seasons per Year: The program operates in two caps:

    • Spring/Summer Season (starting April 1)

    • Fall/Winter Season (starting October 1)

  • 66,000 Visa Cap: 33,000 for each season, with possible additional visas released for returning workers.
